Longobucco, Province of Cosenza, Region "Calabria", Southern Italy
As known today, the main origin of the Family Name "Gulluscio" resides in the municipalities of Longobucco.
Among the first areas of Calabria for territorial extension,
Longobucco is one of the main municipalities of the "Sila
National Park" in southern Italy. From an historical point of
view, Longobucco is also identified with the ancient city (pre
Hellenic) "Temesa".
In the territory of Longobucco are silver mines whose
exploitation is documented at least from the 12th and almost to
the end of the 18th century.
In the 13th and 14th century
maps the country is referred to as "Terre Longobucti," and
"Longobucto".
Longobucco has always been the most named municipalities in the
art of textiles although it is unknown when it started. At first
textiles were created as a means of survival and later
manufacturing of clothes for shelter from long winters.
Heidenheim an der Brenz, Region "Baden Württemberg", Southern Germany
Many Italians left in the early 60th their country to find
better opportunities abroad. The destiny has direct the parents
of Antonio to Heidenheim (Germany), where his sister and him
were born and grow up.
Historical the first settlements in today's Heidenheim begun
with the Roman Empire around 85 AD with the Castle Aquileia. In
the 8th century Heidenheim was mentioned the first time in
official documents. The creation of the city in the Middle Ages
went hand in hand with the construction of Hellenstein Castle,
which is the town's landmark.
Today Heidenheim is a modern medium city with the headquarters
of the Voith industrial company and Hartmann Group (an
international company that produces and sells medical and care
products).
Esslingen am Neckar, Region "Baden Württemberg", Southern Germany
The origin of the Antonio's wife and the birth of his first
daughter is associated with the town Esslingen am Neckar.
Esslingen was first mentioned close to the end of the 8th
century as Ezlinga (french influence). Around 800 it became a
market town with certified market rights in 866 AD. Esslingen
became a major center of trade on the route between Italy,
Switzerland and northern Germany. In the middle age many wars
have influence the city and its population.
Esslingen is one of the few old cities in Germany that have
survived the Second World War. Over 1200 years of history have
left their mark on Esslingen's architecture and art.
One can dive into the basements and catacombs of the Esslingen's
underworld, let themselves be illuminated by night-time spirits
or ghosts.
The house of Kessler is Germany's oldest producer of sparkling
wines with historical roots in the Champagne region.
